About BIRF

BIRF is totally committed to free trade and fights back whenever the right to import automobiles is in the process of being restricted in any way.

BIRF was founded in 2003 and has so far been successful in preventing the Swedish Road Authority from imposing serious restrictions on the import of cars from the USA and Canada.

BIRF is against all kinds of red tape slowing the natural inflow of foreign cars preferred by many Swedish consumers.

BIRF meets with authorities, politicians and the commercial attachés of  foreign embassies in Stockholm in order to make it easier to import vehicles.

BIRF is always invited to comment on proposed new legislation affecting the import of cars into Sweden and has on several occasions been able to stop or modify such legislation.

BIRF is at the present time very much involved in the setting up of new European standards for Individual Vehicle Approval, IVA, of vehicles within the European Union.

BIRF in short has as its main goal the setting up of  simplified, long-range and foreseeable rules for the import of vehicles into Europe.
